The Quick Canoe  Electric is now ready for you.  This is one of the easiest boats there is to build.  Our kit consists of all the wooden parts you will need to put this together.  All you need is glue, some epoxy, a little fiberglass tape, a few screws, and paint.  We even include the wire ties to keep the bow  together while assembling.   The other ingredient is YOU, having a great time on the water in the canoe.  You will need very few tools for this.  A simple handsaw can be used for all cuts necessary although a jig saw is helpful.  A cordless drill would be good but you could do it with a hand screwdriver if necessary.  Duct tape and a few spring clamps will help with assembly.  All parts are labeled so you will know exactly what they are and many of the labels have dimensions on them just in case a label should come off.  This is the perfect quick and easy family project.  Everybody can help and the kids can tell their friends what they did!!

Now for the technical stuff.  The basic hull comes in either two or four pieces for the bottom and four for the sides.   A four piece bottom is a little more difficult to build but the shipping cost is considerably less.

The gunwales, inwales and keel come in three pieces each.  The center piece of each is scarfed on both ends and the other pieces on one end.  We will include a piece of aluminum angle that will work as a clamping jig for the scarfs.  Be sure and cover this with plastic tape to prevent the wood sticking to the aluminum.  I recommend starting the gluing process early on so that all pieces will be glued by the time you need them for construction into the boat.

There are five pieces for each seat.  All except the framing pieces are cut to fit.  The seat supports are ready for the installation of the framing.  No intricate cuts are required.

The transom and it’s associated framing is all cut with the necessary bevels.  Just the side pieces need to be cut to length.  The bow and transom knees will have to be cut to fit.  This too is a very simple straight cut.

Believe me.  It doesn’t get any easier than this!!!

BASIC KIT WITH FOUR PIECE BOTTOM WITH EITHER ULTRAPLY XL OR EXTERIOR PINE Including complete bound set of plans $395 plus shipping  PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU WOULD PREFER THE TWO PIECE BOTTOM.

Marine fir, okoume, and miranti also available at additional cost.  I do not believe this should be necessary for this particular boat unless weight is a critical factor.

Many have already bought the plans from them so we keep them separate.  The next post on the site does not include plans.  Please go here for purchase of  canoe kit with plans.  http://www.jowoodworks.com/archives/category/boat-kits

The skeg pieces will fit your boat perfectly prior to applying the keel.  After it is all glued up you can cut it to any final shape you would like.  A gentle curve works well.

A super good way to store and transport your single burner propane stove and gas bottles, AND a myriad of other cooking items. The items shown here are NOT included, only there to show you what “can” be put inside.

This box makes a really sturdy cooking platform that won’t let the stove “tip over” when the boat is rocking about, or the picnic table is wobbly, or your camper isn’t level, and it will keep everything neatly stowed away, ready for instant use.

Also makes a great camp stool !

Made of quality wood that will probably outlast your boat, tent, or camper. Measures approximately 16″ long x 10″ high x 10″ wide.  Box is shipped with no finish on it so you can varnish, paint, or whatever you would like.

When you’re ready to leave, fold it back up and stow it in the boat, car, or camper. You may even find a use for it in the house. Once you use this stool, you will wonder how you got along without one!

Made of quality wood that will probably last the life-time of your boat or camper. Unfinished and ready for finish of your choice.  Measures approximately16″ x 16″ x17″ high. Folds to 22” x 16” x 3 1/2”
