Stainless steel is also available at an increased cost. The rudder is coated with a minimum of 3 coats of spar varnish. This is a beautiful kick up rudder assembly for a Montgomery 17. The rudder is laminated cypress and the tiller is laminated with ash and either mahogany or black walnut. Tiller also available in other combinations of woods. The hold down line is secured with a “Clam Cleat” CL 257 auto release cleat so that it will release and let the rudder kick up out of the way if you hit something. Pintles are not included so that you can install the size you need at the locations that fit you boat.
